The firm is led by Obi Tabansi Onyeaso, who is widely recognized as the pioneer of investor relations in Nigeria.
Prior to founding Customs Street Advisors, Obi was the head of investor relations at Transnational Corporation, a mid-cap conglomerate listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. In this role, he set up the first dedicated and structured investor relations function of a public company in Nigeria in 2006 and coordinated all investor engagement activities during the company’s private placement and initial public offering.
Since then he has been involved in other key transactions for corporates in different sectors and across various capitalization categories. He has also advised companies on how to attain efficiency and effectiveness in their investor outreach initiatives.
A prolific writer on investor relations, Obi writes the popular Street Talking column in NEXT, one of Nigeria’s leading newspapers and is a regular contributor to Alrroya Aleqtissadiya, the foremost business daily in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). At Customs Street Advisors, Obi leads marketing, client relations and business development. Obi holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
